ASM’s supervisory board has appointed CTO Hichem M’Saad as the successor of CEO Benjamin Loh, who is stepping down to retire. The change of the guard will take place at the annual general meeting scheduled for 13 May. Loh has agreed to stay on as an advisor for three months after his retirement to ensure a smooth transition.

M’Saad joined the Dutch equipment manufacturer in 2015 following a 15-year tenure with Applied Materials. The Tunesian-born who acquired US citizenship has been a member of ASM’s management board since 2022, taking the place of Ivo Raaijmakers, who served the company in that role for 22 years. Prior to his engagement with the semiconductor industry, M’Saad ran a PV startup.
