EIT Digital is opening an office in Antwerp. From The Beacon, the city’s innovation hub for the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, the organization plans to accelerate higher education, innovation, entrepreneurship and scaleup acceleration within its focus areas Digital Cities, Digital Industry and Digital Wellbeing. In Antwerp, EIT Digital is partnering with Imec, the municipality, the port and the university.

The new office in The Beacon will make it easier for the Belgian innovation and entrepreneurship network to connect to EIT Digital’s European network of over 280 partners. “From this new location, we’ll be able to intensify relations with the Belgian innovation ecosystem and the Belgian private and public sectors,” says Patrick Essers, managing director EIT Digital Benelux.

One way to connect to the Belgian network is through EIT Digital2021. This is a call for proposals for new innovative products and startups and educational programs that contribute to a strong digital Europe. The call is open until 7 May 2020. The official opening event of the Antwerp office will be planned after the summer holidays.
