“Europe overly reliant on outside technology”

The incoming European Commission, to be installed in November, will heavily focus on Europe attaining “technological sovereignty”, a leaked document obtained by Bloomberg suggests. It warns that Europe’s economy, safety, core values and strategic influence are at stake if it has to rely on other countries for software and hardware. “Europe’s position and influence in global markets will be eroded, affecting European leadership and jeopardizing our technological sovereignty in key industrial strategic value chains,” the news agency quotes from the document.
