Forced tech transfer to China increasing

The number of European companies that feel forced to transfer technology in order to gain access to the Chinese market is increasing. In a survey conducted by the European Chamber of Commerce in China, 20 percent of respondents reported having been compelled to transfer technology. Two years ago, that number was 10 percent. Almost three-quarters of the companies expect this and other obstacles in the Chinese market to stay the same or even increase in the coming five years – despite repeated pledges from China to work towards a level playing field. Chinese officials have repudiated the survey.
