Futurelab pockets new investment and a new home at Evoluon
The Next Nature Network’s (NNN) Futurelab just received a Prinsjesdag gift, as the Dutch government proclaimed its support. In an announcement from the Minister of Education, Culture and Science, it was revealed that the government would be doling out 2 million euros over the next four years, to help develop and establish a Futurelab for design and technology in Eindhoven. With this grant, the goal is to establish a next-gen lab, working to fuze biology and technology.
With additional financial support and incentives coming from the province of North Brabant and the municipality, Futurelab will call the Eindhoven-based Evoluon its new home. Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE) Industrial Design fellow Koert van Mensvoort, who serves as the managing and creative director of Next Nature, will be tasked with shaping the emerging organization. To get the Futurelab up and running, he’ll work closely together with other national and regional foundations and industrial design experts, such as the Dutch Design Foundation, TUE, Design Academy, MU Hybrid Art House and the Van Abbemuseum.
