Reading time: 1 minute

The German government will be investing 650 million euros in quantum computing over the next two years. As part of the research acceleration effort, the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft is joining forces with IBM and installing its Q System One quantum computer. The Q System One is Big Blue’s first commercial quantum computer model, although the 20 qubits it features are far from enough to perform commercially relevant tasks. Fraunhofer and IBM will mainly be looking at how future, more powerful models can be used to perform complex chemical computations and to improve artificial intelligence.
