Imec has “drastically” scaled back its engagements with Chinese partners, the Flemish Economy Ministry, which oversees the research center, told Politico. Previously, Flanders’ Economy Minister Jo Brouns said that Imec had to “focus mainly on like-minded countries.” Imec commented that it had “refined” its China policies to reflect global geopolitical developments.

Additionally, the research center is vying for a share of Chips Act funding being doled out, to which governments will likely attach conditions.
