Lightyear commences small-scale production of solar roof
Lightyear has started preliminary production of solar roofs for external car manufacturers. CEO Lex Hoefsloot told Eindhovens Dagblad a number of well-known brands are fitting models with a Lightyear roof, which should hit the road in two to three years (link in Dutch). Ultimately, his company could be manufacturing millions of solar roofs annually, Hoefsloot said, possibly for an extended range of applications including trucks and cargo vessels. Meanwhile, the Helmond-based startup still undergoing a “strategic restructuring” continues the development of a family car.
