Lightyear’s solar roof absorbs €3.8M RVO investment
Dutch EV developer Lightyear has revealed its latest investment. The Helmond-based solar mobility specialist is receiving an Innovation Credit totaling 3.8 million euros from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The funds will be used to develop a production facility for the company’s solar roofs, which will allow the EV maker to scale up its production capacity and better anticipate the growing demand for solar roofs on vehicles. This comes just after Lightyear revealed its plans to expand its solar cell production with a new facility located in Venray.
To further develop its solar technology, Lightyear is also working with its renowned partners like TNO, among others. The new production facility in Venray will make it possible to further scale up research, development and production of its solar technology, with the final goal of making clean mobility possible for everyone and everywhere in the world.
“We’re extremely honored to receive this funding from RVO,” says Hans Heijmans, chief operations officer and managing director solar products at Lightyear. “We see it as a statement from the government that they believe in the technology Lightyear is developing and that solar mobility is seen as an important solution.”
