Nearfield reels in “semicon prominent”
Nearfield Instruments has secured an order for its Quadra metrology tool from “a prominent semiconductor manufacturer in East Asia,” the firm announced. “The Quadra system was selected following a competitive evaluation process, where it outperformed alternative metrology solutions in several key areas critical to advanced semiconductor manufacturing,” a press release reads.
Nearfield’s Quadra systems map the surface of chips with atomic force measurements. By deploying many atomic force probes in parallel, the Rotterdam-based company achieves the high throughput necessary for semiconductor metrology. The technique has been adopted by Samsung, which uses it in memory manufacturing. Nearfield’s new order is from another firm.
“We’re pleased to receive this important order from yet another highly respected semiconductor manufacturer in East Asia,” says Nearfield CEO Hamed Sadeghian. “It underscores the confidence our customers have in the Quadra system’s ability to meet the demands of next-generation semiconductor fabrication, as well as the strength of our customer service and support.”
