As of 1 January, Nexperia has become a member of the partner board of ESI, the high-tech embedded systems joint innovation center of the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). The Nijmegen-based expert in high-volume semiconductor production joins ASML, Canon Production Printing (formerly Océ), Philips, Thales, Thermo Fisher Scientific, TNO and the universities of Delft, Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Twente. Applying the latest scientific insights, ESI develops methodologies and tooling for the development of complex systems by the high tech industry. These methodologies are tested and validated in practice on site at the partners.

Nexperia’s Paul van den Broek explains: “In 2019, we delivered nearly 100 billion chips. Where ASML is at the front end of the chip machines, we’re at the back end. With our entry into the ESI ecosystem, we’re joining the next generation of machine software. We invest in the quality of the software and, at the same time, remain critical about the costs. With our access to the ESI partner board, we invest in our future and contribute to the competitive position of the Netherlands in the machine industry.”
