Rena strengthens VDL’s position in electronics
VDL Groep has acquired Rena Electronica. This company from Zundert, near the Belgian border south of Breda, develops and manufactures custom solutions for smart electronics and LED lighting in different markets (link in Dutch). The addition of Rena’s specialists and machines will boost the industrial conglomerate’s production capacity.
Specifically, VDL sees synergy benefits with VDL TBP Electronics, its subsidiary based in Dirksland and Eindhoven, which specializes in printed circuit board assemblies. Rena has a turnover of 12 million euros and over 50 employees. Having invested in capacity expansion over the past years, it has room for further growth. At the same time, VDL TBP, with over 170 employees and an annual turnover of 50 million, is approaching its limits due to a lack of available capacity.
“Our ambition is to be a one-stop-shop industrial partner. Besides our competencies in mechanics and software, with VDL TBP Electronics in our ranks, we’ve taken a big step forward in electronics,” comments VDL president and CEO Willem van der Leegte. “With Rena’s skilled employees and high-quality machines, we’re further expanding our production capacity, enabling us to better fulfil the increasing demands of our clients.”
