BE Semiconductor Industries (Besi) has released their earnings report for Q1-2019, and things appear bleak for the Duiven-based technology company. After three consecutive quarters of revenue decreases, Q1-2019 revealed another losing quarter, down 12 percent, sequentially. Besi pulled in a revenue of 81.4 million euros, a sharp decline of 47 percent compared to Q1-2018. This loss was attributed to the adverse impact of an industry downturn on Besi’s principal end-user application markets. Net income decreased 74 percent year-on-year to 9.5 million euros.
It was not, however, all bad news for Besi. According to President and CEO, Richard Blickman, customer demand appeared to somewhat stabilize and there was a slight uptick in orders, 0.4 percent, from that seen in Q4-2018. Going forward, Besi expects a moderate increase in the next quarter, approximately 5 percent, as market conditions are expected to further stabilize.
