To find financial backing for budgetary setbacks as well as making additional investments, the Dutch cabinet is considering using part of the National Growth Fund (NGF), several media report. Reportedly, 6.7 billion euros earmarked for research and innovation might be reallocated to the defense budget.
Last week, the NGF conditionally awarded 6.3 billion euros to twenty proposals, which included several high-tech consortia. In a previous funding round, 4 billion euros were allotted to quantum and AI technology as well as infrastructure projects. The 20-billion-euro NGF was launched in September 2020.
