TSMC is still considering establishing a fab in Germany. A senior executive confirmed to Bloomberg that the foundry is in “early talks” with the German government. In July, chairman Mark Liu said that his company was evaluating the European country as a potential manufacturing site. Taiwanese news outlet Digitimes previously reported that TSMC was looking at 16/12nm processing in Germany, while Reuters said that the foundry was having discussions with Infineon, Robert Bosch and NXP about building a European plant to serve their automotive needs.
