Despite rampant inflation, soaring energy costs, ongoing glitches in supply chains, recent Covid-19 virus lockdowns in China and Russia’s war with Ukraine, IC Insights continues to anticipate an 11 percent increase in total semiconductor sales this year. That’s the same growth rate that the market firm forecast in January, when things didn’t look as dire. Some semiconductor product categories, particularly optoelectronics, aren’t doing as well as predicted a few months ago, but better-than-expected growth in logic, analog and several other categories offset the difference.
