NXP is selling 2 billion dollars in bonds to finance the development of energy-saving chips as well as the implementation of energy-efficiency measures at its facilities. To be more specific, the proceeds will go to research into and development of green chips, battery control and energy management for electric and hybrid cars, advanced driver-assistance systems, mobile device beam steering, edge processing devices and smart building technologies. Additionally, the company will invest in making both its office buildings and manufacturing facilities more energy efficient.
