The Dutch government should ignore foreign pressure when deciding whether or not to grant companies an export license for complex technology. That seemed to be the general consensus (link in Dutch) in parliament, now that the government is caught between a rock and a hard place in deciding if ASML should be allowed to sell an EUV scanner to a Chinese company.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that the US has been pressuring the Dutch to withhold the required export license from ASML. This week, China pushed back, alluding to deterioration of economic relations.
The Chinese EUV order is currently on hold while renewal of the export license is being considered. It isn’t known when to expect a decision.
