ASML is considering the construction of a shared research facility on the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE) campus, a company spokesperson told Eindhovens Dagblad (ED). Based on an official announcement that hasn’t been released yet, the daily reports that the plans are further along, however.

The new building would provide a cleanroom, research areas and workplaces available to both ASML employees and university students. It would “attract the best researchers from around the world,” boosting the TUE’s research profile, ED cites from the announcement. It might also help attract students. To support Brainport’s explosive growth, the university has set ambitious growth targets.
The relationship between ASML and TUE is longstanding. CEO Peter Wennink is chairman of the university’s supervisory board. “We’re currently jointly investigating how we can continue our successful collaboration,” an ASML spokesperson said. “One possibility is to realize a building with cleanroom on the TUE campus.”
