Airbus Defense and Space Netherlands (Airbus NL) has found its next captain. Rob Postma has been selected to serve as chief of the Leiden-based space company, where he’ll be responsible for operational management. Postma is succeeding outgoing CEO Maarten Schippers and will start his new role, effective immediately. Airbus NL is part of the Space Systems division of Airbus, working to develop solar arrays, launcher structures and other technology for earth observations and optical communication.

Postma has held various positions within the international Airbus organization since 2007. Before his current appointment, he served as VP Head of Governmental Export Business for the Space Systems division, overseeing global business development and marketing and sales activities of earth observation and telecom satellites for national space agencies and military organizations. Previously, Postma was responsible for business development and sales for Earth Observation, Navigation & Science and for the sale of intelligence based on data from space in the EMEA and Latin America regions.
