Antwerp’s Rombit has selected former Imec VP and managing director John Baekelmans as its new CEO. Baekelmans will take the helm of the IoT solutions specialist for maritime services, port terminals and petrochemical plants starting in April as the current CEO Jorik Rombouts shifts his focus to the company’s international presence. Rombit also announced that former BASF Antwerp CEO Wouter De Geest will become the chairman of the executive board.

“I’m very pleased that Baekelmans and De Geest have accepted my offer to take an active role in the company,” expresses Rombouts. “They’ve been on my advisory board for years and know the company inside out. Both are seasoned managers with an extensive network in the technological and industrial sector. I couldn’t have wished for better captains for Rombit.”
