Worldwide semiconductor sales in 2019 dropped 12.1 percent year-on-year to 412 billion dollars, reports the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) based on numbers provided by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization. Quarterly sales started to slow in the second half of 2018, and although the market rebounded somewhat over the past six months, it hasn’t been enough to make up for the earlier decline. The SIA expects the recovery to continue this year, resulting in modest growth.
