Companies working together with research institution TNO add 14-17 percent more value than companies doing R&D on their own, according to a study performed by TNO. A possible explanation for the effect is that collaborating with TNO yields access to research infrastructure and experienced researchers, which increases the chance an innovation project will be a success. Alternatively, the external expertise may help to select projects that are most likely to succeed. Previously, evaluations in Denmark, Germany and Norway have yielded similar results.
