The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs has committed 66.3 million euros to the Dutch part of the European Pixeurope project, which will establish pilot manufacturing facilities for photonic integrated circuits (PICs) in Eindhoven and Enschede. The funding consists of an accelerated contribution of 53,8 million euros from the National Growth Fund and 12.5 million euros from the ministry’s own budget. Once approved, the European Commission will match the Dutch contribution one-for-one.
