Electrification powers Powertrim’s ambitions in power module assembly
Back-end equipment manufacturer TFA Europe from ’s-Heerenberg is joining forces with industrial accelerator Include Industries to form Powertrim Technologies. The founders of Include Industries, Ilko Bosman and Daan Kersten, will join the board of the new company as finance and general manager, respectively. Co-founder Huub Claassen will assume the role of commercial director but will also remain responsible for business development at Duiven-based Boschman Advanced Packaging Technology.
Powertrim has developed a technology platform for the automated assembly and testing of power modules. Demand for those components is on the rise thanks to electrification, the advance of renewable energy solutions and various industrial applications. Powertrim has already found buyers in Europe, North America and Asia for its modular Flex Line machine.
“Our craftsmanship, built up through decades of making tools for back-end processes, and Include Industries’ experience in successfully building and scaling high-tech machine building companies are very complementary. It enables us to have the ambition to become a winner in the fast-growing market of power module assembly and packaging,” say Frans Derksen and Erik van Ouwerkerk, co-founders of TFA Europe.
“Power module assembly is often still performed with modified traditional IC packaging equipment while the Flex Line is designed from the ground up to build individual power modules at the lowest total cost and best quality. Since this is one of the final steps in the manufacturing process, a high yield is essential to preserving the added value of earlier processes,” add Daan Kersten and Ilko Bosman.
