ASML CEO Peter Wennink has been appointed Grand Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau, which recognizes acts of special merits for society. “Since Peter Wennink took office in 2013, ASML has become one of the world’s leading and most innovative technology companies. The enormous significance of ASML for the Eindhoven region and for the whole of the Netherlands is unprecedented,” Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who presented the award, wrote on Linkedin.

The recognition of Grand Officer is very rare, according to the Order’s website. Since 2000, only four civilians have received this honor.
