Similar to the rankings from last year, the Dutch technical universities are once again fairing poorly in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Dropping from its spot at 187 last year, Eindhoven has now joined Twente in falling out of the top 200. Delft made minimal headway, rising three spots from last year, landing at 75. Top honors in the Netherlands belong to Wageningen University & Research, climbing to number 53 overall, up nine from its ranking a year ago.

KU Leuven is again tops in the Benelux region, climbing three spots to 42. ETH Zurich maintains its grip on top honors in continental Europe, falling one spot to 15. UK’s Oxford, once again tops the charts and is the only non-American university to crack the top 10. The 2022 THE World University Rankings include more than 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
