Bits&Chips talks to Marcel Pelgrom (part 2)
In a series of four interviews (in Dutch), 20-year Bits&Chips columnist Marcel Pelgrom looks back on his professional career.
Over the course of twenty-odd years, Marcel Pelgrom has written many an opinion piece for Bits&Chips. On the occasion of his retirement as a columnist, René Raaijmakers sat down with him for an entire afternoon, taking him on a trip down memory lane.
In part 2, Marcel remembers how his self-confidence grew during his PhD and first years at the Natlab. He also talks about Philips Semiconductors, which was split off as NXP in a construction laden with debt. As a Natlab group head, Marcel had a lot of contact with people near the top of the company. As a result, he learned a lot about the struggles of senior management. His conclusion: Philips wasn’t a tech outfit; it was a bank.
This interview is part of a series of four and can be watched on Youtube and listened to on Spotify.
